Scoutingrios Packrafting Courses
Scoutingrios packrafting courses are designed for those seeking solid and progressive training in packrafting, combining ACA-certified courses with specialized rescue and river safety clinics.
Training takes place on rivers across Chilean Patagonia, with a base in Río Puelo, Cochamó Valley, and the ability to travel to different locations in the Los Lagos, Aysén, and Magallanes regions, depending on course objectives, group level, and river conditions.
Courses prioritize real whitewater environments, river reading, decision-making, and risk management, delivering a training experience adapted to the unique characteristics of each river and region.

These courses adapt to the level of the group and river environment, using Patagonian rivers as real-world learning scenarios, prioritizing river reading, decision-making, and risk management.
The ACA organizes packrafting training into progressive levels:
Basic paddling skills, equipment knowledge, and safety fundamentals in calm water. Ideal for beginners.
Fundamental skills for maneuvering, crossing, and reading low-complexity rivers.
Control and interpretation of moderate whitewater, intermediate techniques, and basic rescues.
Advanced whitewater skills, technical rescues, and high-level decision-making in demanding river environments.
All levels follow American Canoe Association (ACA) standards and are designed to ensure safe, structured progression.

Scoutingrios training is based on internationally recognized standards, with the American Canoe Association (ACA) serving as a key reference for course structure and certification.
Founded in 1880, the American Canoe Association is a non-profit international organization dedicated to establishing safety, training, and certification standards in paddlesports.
The ACA’s educational programs are present in more than 35 countries, reaching over 800,000 participants annually, making it one of the most recognized paddlesport certification systems worldwide.
Packrafting is a lightweight, compact inflatable boat designed for easy transport and use on rivers, lakes, and multi-sport adventures such as trekking, bikepacking, and wilderness travel.
Its main characteristic is versatility: it allows access to remote areas, river crossings, and whitewater descents using equipment that can be carried in a backpack.
In moving water environments, packrafting requires a solid understanding of river dynamics, paddling technique, personal safety, and decision-making. For this reason, structured and certified training is essential for safe and responsible practice.

Rescue and Safety Clinics for Packrafting
Scoutingrios rescue and safety clinics focus on practical, hands-on training for managing river incidents, based on international whitewater rescue standards and methodologies developed by organizations such as the International Rafting Federation (IRF) and Rescue 3 International.
These clinics are designed to complement packrafting training, with a strong emphasis on decision-making, teamwork, and effective response to real-life scenarios in Patagonian whitewater environments.
